Searching listings on the internet or through open house ads is always a good start. It only gives you half the story though. If you are currently searching for a home I always suggest talking to a lender first. Find out what you can truly afford before you spend many hours looking at homes that may not be attainable. At the very least you will have begun the process and be in a much stronger position when you find a property and are ready write an offer.
